He was described as a German national who reportedly speaks Somali, Arabic, French, English, and Kiswahili—language skills that could support communication between networks operating in different regions.

Müller is reported to have travelled to Somalia between 2010 and 2012, when several foreign fighters from Europe joined Al-Shabaab. Before travelling, he was allegedly connected to extremist networks in Bonn, Germany. After joining Al-Shabaab, he reportedly adopted the name Abu Nusaybah and became associated with the group’s activities in Somalia and neighbouring countries.

In 2015, Kenyan authorities identified Müller as one of the alleged participants in an attack on a military position in Baure, Lamu County. Kenyan officials subsequently offered a reward of USD 100,000 for information leading to his arrest.

Reports published in 2016 claimed that Müller had died. However, his reported death was not independently verified, and no conclusive public confirmation was issued. His alleged appointment as a liaison therefore remains subject to further verification.
